My team is currently have issues with rubber bands stretching as they are being stretched a long distance. I have heard of success with latex tubing. Would this be our best solution or has here found something (like boiling) that gives the rubber bands extra stretch? Thanks in advance.

Latex/surgical tubing would definitely be useful here, as it maintains its stretchiness and will still return to its original length even after being used for a while.
